Cuvée from the Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Zweigelt varieties aged in used barriques, the ratio varies according to the vintage.
Heidenboden is the name given to the flat vineyards between the Parndorfer Platte, Lake Neusiedl and the Hungarian border. In Halbturn, the vineyards are Bauernwies, Lehendorf, Haide and the lower part of the Ried Römerstein. The inferior growing conditions in the lower part of the Kaiserberg, Römerstein and Bauernwies vineyards, due to the higher proportion of Seewinkel gravel, are the reason for the mineral-elegant aromatic expression of the individual varieties. The spicy fruit is dominated by Merlot and Blaufränkisch, while Zweigelt adds length and velvety tannins.
The selection of grapes already in the vineyard, gentle pressing, fermentation on open mash with 3 weeks of maceration, aging in used barriques for 20 months, 100% biological acid reduction - all this is behind the unique expression of this full-bodied wine with a velvety expression and yet noticeable tannins.
